Scholarships for Continuing Education Students

Continuing Education Scholarships are designed and intended for students who are currently attending or are returning to complete their education at an accredited post-secondary college, university, community college, or vocational school.

Available scholarship(s)

  • James W “Bill” Nichols Perpetual Scholarship
    Should funds be available after awards are made to Gold Beach High School students, continuing ed students may be eligible to receive this scholarship
    Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
    Students must be pursuing training to become a licensed electrician in the State of Oregon, or the field of electrical engineering
    Students shall supply one or more letters of recommendation from his/her current vocational or science instructor(s) and at least one personal reference from a member of the Gold Beach business community
    Preference will be given to students who have a history of service to the community and who express a willingness to bring their training back to the community
  • Arlena Hall Scholarship
    Student applicants must be a graduate of Gold Beach High School
    Student applicants must meet entrance requirements for accredited School of Nursing
    Students must have participated regularly in extracurricular activities and/or work experience during high school
    Student applications must receive a letter of recommendation from a teacher – letter should include a demonstration of compassion for the human condition
  • Dutton-Sonnevil Scholarship
    Minimum cumulative GPA 2.5
    The student must be enrolled in an engineering, science or health care related major in an accredited educational institution
    Students must have graduated from Gold Beach High School, attained a GED or have been Home Schooled in the Gold Beach area
    Selection criteria will include participation in school and community activities
    Financial need with normal documentation will be considered but is not a requirement
    Renewals are possible, but recipients must reapply and complete an application each year
  • Curry Arts, Inc. Art & Music Scholarship
    This is a Merit Scholarship. Financial Information is not required. You may skip the financial information section of the Continuing Scholarship Application.
    Some form of sharable documentation (physical or digital) of your work should be included.
    No additional interview is required.
    Renewals are possible, but recipients must reapply and complete application each year.
    This Scholarship is ONLY available as a renewal for prior recipients.
  • Dave Little Memorial Scholarship
    Minimum GPA of 3.0
    Must be a Gold Beach High School Graduate
    Students must show strong character and a desire to learn
    Participation in school and community activities
    Renewals are possible, but recipients must reapply and complete application each year
  • Robert and Carol Dark Scholarship
    For graduates entering the field of trades
    As a Renewable Scholarship, recipients may apply yearly until their training is completed
    Preference will be given to students with a history of community service, a willingness to bring their training back to this community, and demonstrate financial need

Terms of Eligibility

  • Awards are not automatically renewable and you are required to reapply each year
  • Awards must be claimed by December 15th of the year awarded
  • Recipients may transfer the award from one eligible institution to another institution upon approval of the Board
  • Application packets must be received prior to April 1

A complete application packet includes:

  • Completed scholarship application
  • A letter explaining career path
  • A letter of reference from a college professor/instructor
  • An official transcript from your school
