Kaitlin Armstrong

Thank you so much for your generous gift that will aid me in completing my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at Wheaton College which will equip me to earn my Master of Divinity and Master of Counseling and the rest of my career in ministry and non-profit organizations.

After completing my junior year, I am looking forward to my senior of college, which will include leading my distance running team as a captain in collaboration with five other teammates as well as completing my IDS Thesis that will combine Psychology, Communication, and Ministry to examine the psychological and spiritual impacts of and solution to emotional abuse. I am especially grateful for this scholarship because of my missions internship this summer which prevents me from earning, through a regular job, the amount of money I need for tuition this next year.

This summer, I am interning, remotely from Oregon for two months and on-site in Chicago for one month, with SIM USA at Culture ConneXions (CCX). SIM (www.simusa.org) is an international mission organization with more than 4,000 active missionaries from 654 countries serving in almost 80 countries.

Specifically, I will be serving immigrants within Chicago through discipleship and non-profit engagement with ECWA Church, vulnerable women in the Philippines by developing selling platforms for SORA Products, and Muslim and South Asian women and children through mentorship and tutoring for a neighborhood ministry in Chicago. In doing so, I will learn more about my own strengths and weaknesses in this career field, grow in my collaboration and intercultural communication skills, and better comprehend the intersection of non-profits and churches.

Thank you again for your continued generosity which has enabled me to exceed at school instead of taking on another job as well as aided me in gaining important skills for future positions.
