General Instructions
The application and packet must contain the following (applications with missing material will be disqualified):
- Gold Beach Education Fund Cover Page
- A recent transcript of all high school work, signed by the office secretary
- A complete resume: Attach a resume that includes class/school organizations and offices held, civic and community activities, work experience, and other activities such as sports and hobbies
- Two (2) required Gold Beach Education Fund Essays. *Essays will be evaluated on your basic English skills and content.
- On a separate sheet of paper (one paragraph only, typed) respond to the following: As you think about your reasons for wanting to attend college, how have your previous experiences influenced your current post-high school and/or career plans?
- On a separate piece of paper (one page only, typed), respond to the following creative prompt: You have recently retired and completed your 300-page autobiography. Please submit page 217.
- Two (2) letters of reference
- One must be from a teacher, counselor, or other high school staff member
- One must be from a community member, i.e., youth pastor, scout leader, or employer. Home School applicants also need one academic reference and one community reference. References should not come from a relative.
- A recent color photo. (Your photo will only be used in this interview process)
- Please combine the complete application in order and turn it into the high school counselor’s office in a clear plastic presentation folder. *Include extra requirements, such as a portfolio or more letters of recommendation based on the scholarships you are interested in
Application Deadline
Return the completed application to the counselor’s office by the Friday before Spring Break.
Selection Process
- The Gold Beach Education Fund Board will select recipients when all the applicants have been interviewed
- Interviews will be scheduled in April; exact dates will be announced after Spring Break
- Applicants must schedule a time for an interview with the school office, arrive at the interview on time, and dress appropriately
Award Notification
All Gold Beach Education Fund Scholarships recipients will be notified by email/letter and announced at the scholarship award night.
Terms of Eligibility
Student applicants for all GBEF Scholarship must:
- You must be a resident of the Central Curry School District #1
- You must plan to continue your education in an accredited post-secondary college, university, community college, or vocational school
- You must enroll as a full-time student
- You must have a complete, signed Gold Beach Education Fund application and interview
- The award is for one academic year only
- Awards must be claimed by December 15 of the year awarded
- If an applicant wishes to postpone award money to a later time, you must include a letter of explanation
- Students leaving for an academic year abroad may claim their scholarship upon returning home
- Recipients may transfer the award from one eligible institution to another upon approval of the board
Disbursement
The check will be released to the institution upon registration verification as a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary college, university, community college, or vocational school.

Students must pursue training to become a licensed electrician in the State of Oregon, or the field of electrical engineering.
Students shall supply one or more letters of recommendation from his/her current vocational or science instructor(s) and at least one personal reference from a member of the Gold Beach business community.
Preference will be given to students who have a history of community service and who have a willingness to bring their training back to the community. - Alan & Adele Corbin Vocational and Technical Scholarship:
Minimum GPA of 2.5
Students should have an emphasis in construction management, architecture, engineering, or electrical apprenticeship - Arlena Hall Scholarship
Applicants must meet entrance requirements for accredited school of nursing
Participate regularly in extracurricular activities and/or work experience during high school
Letter of recommendation from teacher should include a demonstration of compassion for the human condition. - Curry Arts, Inc. Art & Music Scholarship (renewable)
Must be a Gold Beach High School Graduate
Minimum GPA of 2.5 through grade 12
Must enroll as either a full-time or part-time student
Must major in
A. Fine/Applied Arts (e.g. painting, sculpture, ceramics) or a related field of art study (e.g. art education, art history, art librarianship, art therapy, computer graphics, commercial art, film/video production) -or-
B. Music (e.g. music theory, music education, composition, performance, production)
This scholarship requires completion of the Gold Beach Education Fund Application PLUS
Must include some sharable documentation of your art and/or music skills (e.g., a portfolio, recording, video, thumb drive, CD, DVD, link to a website, or other means to communicate your present level of accomplishments). Your documentation can be returned after the scholarships are awarded. - Nancy Sloan Brueckner Scholarship:
Favors the fields of education, medical, or other helping professions - Waltz Trust Health Care Scholarship

Must be a Gold Beach High School Graduate, attained a GED or have been home schooled in the Gold Beach area
